Intersection theory on moduli space of curves

In this talk, I would like to introduce the moduli space of curves. I will state the Witten-Kontsevich theorem relate it the theory of K.d.V. The precise definition of K.d.V equation and its tau function will be given later in the lecture series on integrable system.
