Canonical Forms in Differential Geometry and Integrable Systems
Chuulian Terng (University of California, Irvine)

Abstract

In this lecture series, we will discuss the following topics.

I. Existence of slices (or canonical forms) in group actions

II. Examples including polar actions, the action of the diffeomorphism group on the space of Riemannian metrics, and moving frames and local invariants for curves in homogeneous spaces.

III. Applications of slices in differential geometry and integrable systems.
