Speaker(s):
Guangliang Chen (San Jose State University)

Organizer(s):
Chih-Wei Chen (NCTS)

1. Course Background & Purposes

The course aims to introduce spectral clustering as a modern approach to

clustering.

2. Course Outline & Descriptions

Specific topics that will be covered include

·Advanced linear algebra such as matrix SVD, matrix norm, low-rank approximation, and

some

direct applications

·Spectral graph theory

·Spectral clustering algorithms and applications

·Scalable spectral clustering

The course also has a significant programming component, so proficiency in one of

Matlab/R/Python is required.
